Moorhead City Council candidate Sarah Opitz’s use of fire truck during parade goes to a hearing — Stanley Government news

A fire truck displaying "Moorhead Fire Dept." decals and banners endorsing Moorhead City Council candidate Sarah Opitz appears during Moorhead High School's Homecoming Parade. (Minnesota Court of Administrative Hearings) MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – On October 28, the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings held a probable cause hearing to discuss the complaint made by legal representative for the Moorhead Firefighters Union Ryan Nelson and Moorhead City Council Member Chuck Hendrickson.Nelson claimed Opitz’s use of the Moorhead fire truck with campaign signs was a clear breach of campaign law.The Firefighters Union said they only gave the truck to Opitz and did not help in turning it into a campaign vehicle.Opitz said she wasn’t aware of the law and discussed how quick she was in fixing the situation. It is now up to Judge Megan McKenzie to determine whether the complaint goes to another hearing or is dismissed by the State.
